The Mountain School (TMS) is located in Bellevue, Idaho and provides an environment that sets the foundation for a life-long love of learning and holistic balanced living. Our learning environment and our programs strive to awaken and encourage exploration through the head, heart, and hands (thinking, feeling and willing). Learning becomes much more than memorizing facts … learning becomes an engaging voyage to discover the world and oneself while the magic and wonder of childhood are protected and respected. We are developing members of WECAN (Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America) and are working towards our WECAN accreditation.
The Mountain School offers the following programs based upon Waldorf educational philosophy and curriculums:
- Kindergarten - offered five-days per week for ages 4-6.
- Grades Program - offered five days per week for grades 1st & 2nd.
- After School Program for children 4-12 years old from September through May. We pick up at 2:30pm from Hailey and Woodside Elementary. Van ride back to Hailey at 5:20pm to Roberta McKercher Park for pick up is available.
- Summer Camp sessions for children 4-12 twelve years old. Check back for info on our 2011 Summer Camps program!
Our Waldorf curriculum consists of two major components - nurturing child development through practical and expressive arts and through exposure to permaculture (sustainable farm living). Parents and community members are invited and encouraged to become involved in association activities and assisting with school festivals and events.The collective effort of teachers, parents and school board members creates a richer educational experience.
